Emily and Tyler’s wedding was like the ultimate backyard bash and the perfect way to ring in a new wedding season over here. Their big day and all of the festivities was held at a private estate in the Beach of Rincon, Puero Rico where friends and family gathered who all came from the US to celebrate the bride and groom. Because all of the guests were from out of the island, it felt very much like a vacation destination wedding where people were staying all weekend, cutting loose, and getting a chance to really spend quality time together (which I love).
Since the moment we arrived the first thing their friends told me was this is not a traditional wedding, and I was so happy to hear that, love that they wanted a really intimate and laid back party for their guests. They wanted to do a first look at the estate backyard and after that we did some photos with their friends and suddenly they surprised me telling me they are professional cheerleaders and they proceed to lift up and throw Emily high in the air, from that moment on I knew it was going to be a good day :).
Although the temperatures were in the 90s all day, everything about Emily and Tyler’s wedding in Rincon felt effortless and laid back. And I think one big reason for that was because they stayed the night before at the private estate so they were familiar with the property, had ample time and help with setting up, they didn’t need to travel around town from a hotel to the venue, and they could use the space in any way they wanted! It was really a perfect location for a backyard destination wedding with a beach flair.
I always like to ask my destination wedding couples "why Puerto Rico?" and their answer is what loved most, they told me they had a few options but that after hearing about the devastation in hurricane Maria in the island, they really wanted to make a difference and help a little in the economy of the island by bringing ~40 people for a week to consume in the island, one of the biggest reasons why I not only loved photographing this day, but made the couple one of the special ones that I won't forget.
I really loved photographing this day and enjoyed putting together a blog post was because of how cohesive everything looked and also how relaxed and laid back everything was. Even in different times of the day when the light had drastically shifted, every image feels like it belongs and helps tell the story of Emily and Tyler’s wedding day in the most beautiful way possible. From the interior details of the getting ready moments, to the property details found at the ceremony and then later in the backyard and the beach with the bride and groom portraits, and finally the orangey-pink color of the decor and pop of green from the grass and surrounding trees that provided a consistent backdrop to really tie everything together to the tropical feel in their minimalist decor and details.
I don’t think I can get through a blog post about Rincon without obsessing a little bit (or a lot) over how dreamy it is and it's sunsets. As a Rincon wedding photographer I still can’t get over the colors and never ending photo opportunities the Rincon beach has to offer. As the sun set in the beach we gathered Tyler, Emily, and their wedding party outside of the estate for some shots. Basically my ideal setting was waiting just outside the private property at the beach. Thank you, Rincon!
And thank you to Emily and Tyler for inviting me to be a part of their special day! It was a dream come true for me too. So honored to have captured your special day for you.
